Name: Nase Starting Land: Pilaf Lands New Land: Central Lands Steps Required: 2 Thread Type: Mission Thread Mode of Travel: Normal "So... You want me to what?"Looking at the man in front of him in confusion, Nase stood with a very apprehensive disposition, as he squinted suspiciously. Surprisingly, the suited man that was speaking with Nase was not discouraged by the cyborg's reaction to him, and repeated himself with his very salesman-like voice. "We at Desert Wolf Motorcycles would like you to participate in our test run of Wolf Fang Motorcycles to test out the performance quality of our newest engines and their fuel efficiency. If you are willing to do so, you can keep the machine after the fact as well."Raising an eyebrow, Nase turned fully to the man with his arms crossed on his chest after hearing what the man had to say. There's no way he heard this right. "So you're telling me... that you are willing to give me a Free Motorcycle, Completely no strings attached... as long as I test it out for you to see if the motorcycles are good enough to sell?"Clasping his hands, the man continued with his very personable attitude and agreed with Nase's statement. "Yes, is that alright with you, sir?"He heard it right, alright. This person was just willing to give him something for almost entirely free of charge, just like that. This sounded too good to be true to the young adult this was being offered to. Then again, what as that old saying about this type of scenario again? Don't pet a horse in its mouth, or something like that? Either way, he thought that this just seemed a bit too convenient for this specific scenario. Thinking on what to say now, Nase began to scratch the side of his head and pondered what should be his next choice of action. "You're... not going to want it back or anything?"The man with his sales shark smirk, shook his head and raised his hands up as to reassure the very suspicious Tuffle ahead of him. "It's completely yours to keep, sir. But we will need to get through this test if we are to do this today. Well, sir?"Sighing as he looked down, Nase turned back to the man and saw the ceaseless smile on his face. Looking to the side, the young adult irritably grumbled "This better not be a trap," to himself as he refolded his arms. "Hm... You know what, sure. I'll participate in this test of yours."The man clasped his hands joyously and spoke cheerily after Nase's confirmation. "That's wonderful, sir! We'll have a motorcycle to your liking almost immediately."With one motion, the man flipped out a communicator from inside of his suit and held it to his ear. Looking Nase up and down, the man took a moment before talking and spoke into the receiver calmly. "A #15 with darkened rims, please"Putting away the transceiver quickly, the man smiled professionally as he stood still in front of a very confused Nase. "Don't worry, sir. Your test cycle will be with us shortly.""Huh? You didn't even as-"Getting cut off by the sounds of screaming children, Nase turned back to the edge of the Pilaf lands to see large SUVs and a truck furiously driving towards their general direction. Taking out everything in their path, the only things safe from their path seemingly were the children, their parents and the rides that the vehicles wouldn't be able to drive over. It was such a scene that even the Monkey Boy looked shocked at the display. Quickly, the vehicles stopped behind the man and the truck swiftly turned its back to the two just outside of the amusement park. "I do believe that this is to your liking.""What? But you didn't even-"Suddenly, the truck door opened and a sleek black and red motorcycle with dark black rims was wheeled out to the two it was parked behind. Silently, Nase watched in awe as the people who brought it out gave it to the smiling businessman as the cars ahead turned and drove off, this time at a slower rate than before. Maybe they were only there as protection for the truck? Either way, their speed of delivery was incredible. The man noticed Nase's amazement and patted the handle of the cycle gingerly and continued with his telemarketer voice, but Nase almost didn't hear him as he instead stared at the vehicle the man was addressing. "Surprised? We take a lot of pride in our machinery at DWM, so we also make sure to protect them and move them quickly when they are in an unreleased status, such as this one. And there's a reason for the pride too. The streamlined design, the large number of colour pallets that are catered to the owner, and even in just plain speed and controls we've always excelled. That's why we've decided to give the testing process to our customers, so we can make sure that it is to our consumers liking as well, and not just ours."Stunned for multiple reasons, Nase took a moment to appreciate the bike. He had to admit that it looked good, but how did they know what type he wanted? Or get it here so fast, for that matter. "Well? Shall we begin?""S-Sure..."883 WC

As Nase quietly mounted the cardinal coloured motorcycle, he was surprised by the quality of the material used for it. The fabric for the seat was surprisingly soft, and the grips on the front were both firm and comfortable at the same time. This confused Nase almost as much as when he was offered the test in the first place. Were they really willing to give this motorcycle to him for free? He guessed that this is just how people in the lower lands acted and he just wasn't used to it yet. Or this was how the salesmen acted. Time would have to tell, wouldn't it?
Looking up into the bright sky with a squint, the tan teenager pushed up the kickstand with his boot and looked over to the man that was facilitating the test with an expecting look. Acknowledging this, the man took out a notepad and began writing things do on it as Nase waited. Luckily, he wouldn't have to wait long.
"Alright, sir. The first thing we would like to know about before we get into things like performance, is how you feel about the overall craftsmanship of the vehicle and the quality of the product's design."
Twisting the handle of the bike methodically, Nase looked back at the guy (though not directly) and replied to him with a sound of genuine surprise in his voice.
"It's... actually pretty good. The handlebar fabric on this feels really good surprisingly, and the cushion feels soft too. The metal on the bike as painted well, as well. Have you guys been making motorbikes like this for a while?"
Without missing a beat, the man answered Nase as cordially as possible.
"We, at Desert Wolf Motorcycles, have been creating our motorized vehicles for a long time now and we aim to make each make and model better than the last, hence the focus on the quality of the experience, since we see it as such an important feature in our machinery."
"Huh, I see."
Twisting the handle again, Nase sat there as the motorbike as he watched the light shined off of the head of the bike. Taking notes, the man happily smiled to Nase again and continued to advise him on the next part of the test run.
"Alright, the second part that we need to complete before we finish would be to ask about is how you feel about how the motorbike's performance. I am obliged to warn you though, that there are many dangers with this part so it is alright if you would like to end this test run from now."
"Dangers? This is new to me. What kind of dangers are involved in this kind of thing?"
Nase had a feeling that getting a free bike was too good to be true from the very beginning, but he didn't think he was at risk of pain. What could he have been unaware of until now?
"There are not that many problems, don't worry. It is just that I am required t warn you of certain risks. Namely, while the vehicles are great for their speed, their handling isn't at the same level, admittedly. Though it shouldn't be an issue to you, the higher-ups have asked for the testers to try the vehicles at very high speeds as to see if they are serviceable to the public."
There it was. At least it wasn't as bad as he thought it would be. He didn't believe himself to be some sort of invincible being, but he thought that if he was ready he'd be fine with a crash as long as wasn't too serious. At least it was something he could control somewhat.
"Hmm, alright. That... doesn't sound that bad. So I should just try out the bike really fast and see how I like it?"
The seller in front of the sweet-smelling teen made a face as he went to explain himself, signalling to Nase that he wasn't in for anything easy.
"Well, there is also an issue with that as well. To get a proper test for the devices, we need the testers to go at the maximum velocity for us to see its true functionality. So, unfortunately, there are necessary sections to what this test, if that is alright with you, sir."
More and more things just kept piling up today, it seemed. Gah, this was just making things more difficult for Nase. Lazily looking around now, Nase lowered his head and accepted that he was going to continue this. Gotten too far to quit out now.
"I guess that'll be alright. So, is there a way for you to follow me while we do this or do I just do it while you watch?"
"Oh, you can go on ahead, we have a drone device that can record your progress, so it's alright for you to try it now."
As he said this, a small, but noticeable white drone began hovering next to his shoulder. Before Nase could ask where that just came from, it went up to him and began hovering at eye level, shocking him a little bit. What was even controlling it or was it just fully autonomous and it wasn't being controlled at all? Either way, it was weirding him out a bit. Removing the kickstand from the ground again, Nase balanced himself quickly on the motorbike and began to twist the handles in anticipation. While he did this, he ended up looking at the drone again and turned away out of awkwardness.
"Well... I guess I'm ready to do this."
"That's wonderful! Let's get started immediately then."
Welp, here we go. 945|1828 WC Post 2

Listening to the low and heavy hum of the bike, Nase was quickly reminded of his childhood, and how he used to see people driving across the snow where he used to live with snowmobiles and the like to get around without having to walk everywhere. He never owned one, obviously, but whenever he could, the young Tuffle would ask those who were delivering goods or travelling to their jobs for the day for a ride on their transport for a bit, and most of the time, they'd say yes. Waiting for a small amount of time, Nase came out of his trance to the sound of the drone as it hovered closer to his head as it recorded him, making sure to get as many cinematic shots as possible. Gah, marketing. Back to the present once again, the reclusive Tuffle turned back to the salesman who gave him a professional smile as Nase began to address him.
"Alright, I'm going to start now, if that's alright."
Seeing a large grin coming up on the man's face and a thumbs-up come up as confirmation, Nase took this as a sign to get the motorcycle started. and he did so without much effort.
"O-Kay~ Ready in 3... 2.. 1!"
The roar of the engine that followed was almost loud enough to startle him from how quickly the sounded amplified from a weak twist of the handle. This thing might be more powerful than it looked. Maybe he actually should have asked for a bike helmet before agreeing to test out a motorcycle out in the dusty area between the South Lands and Pilaf Lands territorial boundaries. Then again, while he didn't think of himself as some unkillable being, Nase thought that he'd be fine if the bike somehow crashed or something like that happened. Then again, he wasn't about to go pushing his luck, either. Well, here goes nothing.
The heavy drumfire that came from the back of the motorcycle sounded like it was enough to launch Nase across the country, even without the wheels turning underneath him afterwards. Boosting ahead into the open area, Nase had severely underestimated the speed he was going to go at as a start. This was like 60 mph! Now forced to grip harder onto the handles than before, the young adult began to tense up from the surprise, trying to keep calm during this. Staying calm did prove itself to be difficult for him, yet his natural aloof nature managed to hide the most of it behind slightly wider eyes and gritted teeth. Looking down to his speedometer after making sure he wouldn't hit anything, Nase's eyes opened even more as he read it. He was only a third of the way through!
"(Am I really supposed to go the max speed on this thing?)"
Trying to wrap his head around this, it became increasingly more difficult for him to think, especially with the low sound of something whirring behind him. Wait a minute... whirring? Turning his head once again from the dirt road he was pushing through, Nase noticed the source of this strange noise was in fact, coming from the drone he thought he had left back at the beginning. It was still following him? It looked like it was struggling to do so, and the fact that he was expected to triple his current speed made him think that he wouldn't have it near him for much longer.
"(I just hope that this bike was made better than their drones...)"
Facing forward again, He shook his head and continued on, his palmless gloves digging once again into the handles of the vehicle.
"(If it's not, then this would be a total waste of time, wouldn't it?)"
After thinking this, Nase tried to correct himself and start thinking more positively about this. Maybe it wouldn't be so sketchy if he just gave it a chance? But that wasn't really part of his nature, now was it? He'd have to pick up the pace either way, or he'd find himself driving like this for hours. And he didn't feel like driving off with the bike either, especially while being recorded by something that could move 60 miles per hour. Welp, time to hurry this up.
Going faster and faster with minimal effort, Nase felt the wind passing him by even faster, making it slightly difficult to see without squinting. For a moment, he thought of attempting to sense for obstacles in front of him so he wouldn't have to keep his eyes open at all, but it only took him a second for him to realize that even if he had perfect ki sensing abilities.
Rocks don't have Ki signatures.
"(Gah... How much longer do I have to go?!)"
Seeing that he still hadn't reached the necessary goal that the bike dealer asked of him, Nase pushed on, hoping that this would be done with soon. 823|2651 WC Post 3

Continuing into the great expanse past the mega theme park of Pilaf Land, the dark-skinned Tuffle thought that now would be a good time to turn around, as he had been accelerating for a good while now and he thought that he would be nearing the max speed at any moment. At this point, however, Nase realized two very important things at about the same time. 1: there's a reason why helmets and protective gear are necessary to ride motorcycles and 2: the man wasn't kidding when he said that the handling on the bikes was a noticeable issue.
"Alright, now should be a good time to turn..."
As Nase tried to turn the bike around, he noticed that instead of turning cleanly like he was used to, the whole thing drifted sideways and almost tilted over, making it that Nase was almost laying on the beaten path as he continuedly skidded forward on the two wheels. The bystanders and travellers that he passing watched as Nase gradually lost more control as he continued like this.
"Woah, Woah, Woah, Woah!!"
Frantically fighting with the handles to regain control, Nase eventually resolved to storing ki energy in his leg and kicking himself back up to balance the bike again. Surprisingly enough, this worked! With a swift strike to the ground, Nase launched himself upright long enough for the bike to carry him back on track. Well, as on track as you can get when your bike almost flips over the second you try to turn around... Maybe this wasn't such a good idea after all?
"What on earth was that?!"
"That would happen to be the issue of handling that I had referred to earlier."
"Huh?!"
Looking back for a moment, Nase saw the drone from earlier seemingly connected to the back of the bike via a hook grabbing onto the vehicle's back end. It was stuck there the whole time! Shocked by this, Nase almost crashed for a second time. Maybe the camera drone was better made than he originally expected. This could have picked a better time for reveal itself, however.
"What the- This thing can talk?"
"Oh, yes sir. We've joined with companies such as the Capsule Corporation to increase the efficiency of all of our machinery, as to show how everything that we use is of the same high quality of our bikes."
Looking back at the drone with a look of annoyance, Nase shook his head and slowly stepped off the metal bicycle.
"(Phew. Back to safety.)"
You'd think that someone who taught themself to fly wouldn't be afraid of a simple bike, but you'd be surprised.
"Jeez man, you almost scared me to the Otherworld. Literally. But yeah, I'm pretty sure that if I try again that I'll end up crashing for real."
While the man was thinking for a moment, Nase wiped his forehead absentmindedly and sighed in relief once again.
"(Calm down, Nase. It's a damn vehicle. You've seen worse.)"
After he was finished berating himself, he heard the voice of the man come up again from the speaker.
"Alright! I've recorded the video and sent it to our officials. It should be all set by now."
With this, the recording device detached itself from the back of the motorbike and began to hover at his eye level again.
"Does that mean..."
"Congratulations on your new motorcycle, sir. We do hope you enjoy it and recommend us to others on your further trips."
Before Nase could say anything more, the drone flew off back to where Nase had started from, which he assumed to be where the man was still standing after all of this. Now just standing alone with a leg lying on the seat of the bike- his bike now, the brooding man was left to ponder on his scenario now. Trying to comprehend what to do now, Nase's phone began to ring out loud.
"Eh? What is it now?"
Lifting the phone close to his head, he answered the call without checking the name of who was calling him, which turned out to be the wrong course of action.
"HELLLOOOOOOOO?"
Fumbling with his device after that sudden scream, he finally caught the device and held it further away from his face before, wondering what could have caused that noise.
"(It's not even on speaker...)"
"Hello? Are you there?"
Turning his phone's volume down by almost half, the shocked Tuffle lifted the device closer to his ear and hesitantly responded to the person.
"Uh... yes?"
"NASE! Finally, you picked up. I was wondering what was happening with you."
"Oh, Cardigan. Hey, did something happen?"
It'd been a while since he had spoken to the researcher he met while he worked at the Capsule Corporation. In fact, the last time they spoke was when she recommended him to go to Pilaf in the first place.
"I should be asking you that. How was the job?"
Oh yeah, the job. Sighing out loud as he remembered the multiple jobs he had done in the amusement park, he responded to the engineer with the voice of a depressed man.
"Well, it was something. At first, it was the removal of carrots from a field, but then it turned into a search for some monster that was absorbing people's life force. And then there was this giant spaceship that we had to deal with. Worst of all, I think I got paid less than I was supposed to."
"What? That sounds crazy! Wait, spaceship? Please tell me what arrived when you showed up there!"
Quickly startled by her sudden enthusiasm, Nase had temporarily forgotten about her profession and thinking back on it, it makes sense why someone in her position would get excited from news such as that. Though, Nase did have some reservations from talking about it in detail. It may have just been his propensity of distrusting people, but he was going to press her either way.
"Hey, you aren't trying to use me to get a raise at Capsule Corp, are you?"
"Hey! What do you take me for? I wouldn't use you for that... unless you allowed me to."
It was almost as if he could hear her pouting through the phone. She really had changed a lot since when he first met her, then again, it was probably due to her being under threat of being shot by people trying to rob her workplace. Yep, that does things to people. Yet, now she was acting very bubbly and interested in whatever science fiction he had gotten himself into this time. Well, he might as well oblige her this time.
"Well, it's kinda a long story..." 1115|3766 WC Post 4

"YOU BLEW UP AN ALIEN SPACESHIP?!"
"I mean, yeah. But, what was I supposed to do?! That Saiyan guy and the rest of the group were all doing it, and the ship was probably on its way to cause everyone trouble anyways. Wrecking it was the safer option for everyone."
"Yeah, but you didn't even take any parts from the crash site! What's the point of breaking alien tech without taking some for yourself?! ...Besides... What if I wanted some of it..?"
Not wanting to bring up the fact he was technically part 'alien' tech as well, the gruff-looking man's face loosened slightly as he continued to talk with the scientist about his latest mission and the group he met there. Thinking it over, he wondered if he really should have told her everything about it like that, but he quickly justified it to himself. Pilaf land didn't really say that he couldn't talk about the alien attack, just that the stuff before then was off-limits, and besides, Dr. Cardigan was so fascinated by it that he couldn't bring himself to leave her out of it. He'd just have to avoid talking about the illegal stuff.
"I'm not sure if you'd want the pieces anyway, or anyone for that matter. It was mostly rabbit food anyway."
After saying that, it was almost like the Tuffle could hear the researcher pouting. She was really good at it, it seemed.
"Hmph. You keep saying the ship was this large carrot or something, but how does that make sense? So the aliens can make machines out of food? And they spoke to you?"
"Um... Yeah, it sounds makes me sound insane when you say it like that... Actually, it might be even weirder, now that I think it over..."
"THAT'S SO COOL!"
Taken aback by the sheer energy coming from his phone once again, the man involuntarily flinched as he sat down on his bike again, reading the fuel gauge absentmindedly as he held onto the handlebars. Halfway, huh? Though, that shouldn't matter with how crazy the bike was. It should be able to get him where he's going in no time. Sitting back on it again with a more content expression than before, the young Tuffle continued to think to himself about the situation he was in, despite the conversation he was still having.
"-ase, Nase!"
"Oh, yeah. I'm back. Sorry."
"Oh, come on. That's no way to treat a lady, you know."
The cyborg snorted instantly as he heard this, covering his mouth slightly as the Capsule Corp worker yelled out 'Hey!' to his laughter. Who knew the eccentric and rebellious researcher was so easy to get riled up?
"I didn't know a cyborg could be so mean..."
"Huh? You knew that?"
"Wait, are you serious? I was able to tell from when we were in the lab together. Normal people don't take bullets to the chest often, you know?"
Well, she wasn't really incorrect there. Though Nase had met people that would prove her wrong, most people wouldn't be able to get hit by bullets and just take the damage without having something artificial about them.
"(I guess I shouldn't have expected to keep a secret like that from someone who works as a researcher in this field. She could have just told me though... it'd help me out if I could just say things.)"
Sighing to himself, the cyborg man would realize that he had spent a large amount of time stopped when he had a lot more travelling left to do if he wanted to make it back to the Central lands in time. At this point, it was becoming something like a hub for him to return to after doing his odd-jobs and properly rest. Which is something that was very much needed after all that's happened so far. Maybe he could get Clove to let him stay at her store for the night. Beats sleeping in the forest while travelling by far.
"Hey, Dr. Cardigan? I do want to continue talking, but I need to get moving if I want to reach town before it's night. How about we talk when I actually make it back in?"
Audibly scoffing at that idea, the mechanical engineer quickly replied to Nase's question with a smug attitude as if he had said something silly.
"What, so you don't end up crashing again? You don't need to hang up to walk, do you?"
Remembering how he initially met Cardigan by falling onto his face, Nase began to cringe at his past mistake. "Er... I'm not going by foot this time. I got a bike since last we met, but it's got a handling issue on it so I got to be careful with it. Don't want to crash it already." The now more cautious Tuffle made sure not to say where he had gotten it, as he didn't want to explain that he had been working at a rival company first before getting it. "(Now that I think about it, I don't know if that Desert Wolf guy was related to that other scientist I met there. Weird." Regardless, he didn't want to talk about it.
"Ugh, fine, do what you must. But if you don't call back when you get here, I'm going to have to assume you've been kidnapped."
Finally getting a response, not without an annoyed sigh, however, Nase would finally end his call with the eccentric woman and get himself ready to drive off again. "I wonder if every science-type is like that." Revving up his engine, he thought it over and shrugged."That one bug lady seemed pretty normal actually. So maybe it's just them that's weird." And with that, the dark-haired rider drove off towards the north, hoping to find his way there soon.
