Hida shoots, ducking the hook from Priya! He's got the double leg... Priya with a nice sprawl but Hida is super dangerous on the ground and... yeah there it is, Priya's on his back! Hida will be trying to posture up now, and-
Kiryu sat by himself, alone at a table in the resort bar of Pilaf Land. They were showing one of the fights, and Kiryu was nursing a drink (an Old Fashioned, one of his favorites) while he watched and waited for his order of buffalo wings. The last few days had been... interesting, to say the least. He had always wanted to come to Pilaf Land, and he loved the place. He had definitely not been expecting he would run into Tiger Lily... and even less so, Lilith Nevermore, someone that Kiryu had... rather complex feelings about. Spending time with the two had been an exercise in occupying two different head spaces at the same time, but overall, it had been beneficial for all of them. Now, though, Kiryu found himself a bit listless.
The devil makes for idle hands. That was something that had been drilled into Kiryu ever since he was a child, and even here, on vacation in Pilaf Land (which he was LOVING), Kiryu found himself growing bored.
It was a combination of things, but one of the biggest issues Kiryu was currently facing was his own burgeoning fame. It seemed that someone, somehow had gotten some footage of Kiryu and the others fighting the mutant Kaiju shark. Beyond that, his recent forays to the Shadow Temple (as he had taken to calling it), his linking to the island of Kai's Aegis and Nimue, the spirit that resided there (or... was the island itself? He still wasn't super clear on a lot of the details), his impromptu tournament and actions against seafaring high tech pirates and robotic expert terrorists had led to many people in many communities (martial arts, magical, and even just people that watched the news) to take notice of Kiryu. It didn't happen all the time, but most days, he noticed at least one person looking at him for a bit too long, as if trying to figure out if Kiryu was who they thought he was. In a place like Pilaf Land, with thousands of visitors every day, this problem was only exacerbated. Kiryu decided, then, that rather than stay at the park, it would be a good idea to focus on being productive, and maybe earn a little extra zeni on the side while he was at it.
-Priya is in trouble, Hida has advanced to half guard! Priya's active on the ground, he's trying to throw his legs up for a triangle, but he has to be careful he doesn't get swept-
Kiryu pulled out his smartphone, and went to his contact list, selecting one of them. Kiryu began to compose a message, but as he did, his server arrived with his food. The server asked Kiryu if he would like anything, and the young man requested some extra buffalo sauce. As Kiryu waited for more sauce (he couldn't get enough of the stuff), he grabbed one of the flats and dropped it below the table. A white tail swished back and forth, and Duchess, Kiryu's familiar (who happened to be a white bengal tiger) affectionately bumped Kiryu's legs with her massive body before happily beginning to gnaw on the treat. Satisfied that Duchess was content for the moment, Kiryu picked up one of the drumettes and drizzled some buffalo on it before biting in, savoring the spice and how well fried the skin on the wing was.
By then, the server came back, and after checking on the quality of the food (which Kiryu confirmed was good), he went off to assist some of his other tables. At that point, Kiryu resumed the composing of this text.
'I think I need a change of pace. Anything you know of that's going on in Pilaf Land? I could look into something while I have downtime.'
Kiryu hit send, and the message was on it's way to Sylvester Guiler, who had sort of become the World Government's unofficial handler for Kiryu. The two actually got on fairly well; Sylvester was a younger man, and a decent martial artist and ki user in his own right. He wasn't some old warhorse that was going to look at agents as disposable idealists for the greater good; Guiler was something of an idealist, which was something he and Kiryu had in common. Along with being complete and utter nerds.
-And Hida has his back! Priya tries to turtle up but he's getting pounded... he rolls but Hida stays with him AND NOW THE ARM IS AROUND THE NECK, REAR NAKED CHOKE IS SUNK IN... PRIYA TAPS! PRIYA TAPS! HIDA WINS!
Kiryu let out a low whistle of appreciation as the fight drew to a close. These were not ki users he was watching, but they still had solid technique. After a minute, and another couple of devoured wings, Kiryu's phone vibrated. He took a look and, sure enough, there was a response from Sylvester.
'Seriously, happiest place in the world and you can't stop working? Come ON, man! I hear that Universe's End has an entire AR app and you can go around and do stuff for the Revolution... or for the Consortium, if you're a monster, I guess.
Well, I guess there's no sense trying to talk you into continuing with R&R. It does look like Pilaf Land is looking for some freelancers. Standard NDA stuff (which, you know, the next time we get together for a brewery I'm sure it won't come up). Decent cash, seems easy enough. Something about ki infused carrots? Not really sure what the point is of that, but if you can help them find some, should be some easy money.
Oh, and looks like you were right... Priya tapped. Drinks are on me next time '
