Dusting himself off, Nase weighed his options over in his head again, this time with marginally more mud on his hair. Seeing more and more tentacles starting to appear around the base of the tree, the dark Tuffle became more ok with cutting the tree down as time passed. But would that even be possible? Shaking his head, he looked over to Achido who was flying towards him and reprimanding Nase for his rush towards the tree without waiting for the others. Now holding a part of his face in his hand, he spoke to him in a very restrained tone of voice.
"I see that now... Where the hell is Beru-"
Quickly hearing the sound of a motor behind them, Nase noticed a large RV struggling in between trees to escape the effect of the mushroom.
"Nevermind then. How strong is that guy?! Wasn't that thing trapped basically?"
Shaking his head, he looked back at the tree just in time to tilt his body out of the way of a rouge tentacle swiping after the side of his face. Instead of hitting him, Nase saw as the tentacle siped at the ground and caused a big dent in the dirt. That was close! Stumbling a bit to the right, an upset Nase raised a hand into the air above his head and summoned up a ball of ki energy inside of it. Tossing it in a fit of annoyance, the strike landed against three of the protective arms and they almost immediately burnt after the attack. This caused Nase to have some momentary satisfaction in his revenge. Unfortunately, it was only momentary.
With a screeching noise that Nase didn't even want to the origin of, the now sentient demon tree began to regrow the tentacle-roots it had just lost. It was like it didn't even take damage! This caused Nase to slam his hand against the ground in a fit of rage and curse to himself.
"Gr... Ah, c'mon!"
Looking over to Achido again, he noticed the blonde human's determination to take down the tree as he armed himself, which did help soften his anger. Breathing out deeply and speaking in a voice that showed his annoyance with their target, Nase returned to something that he knew worked and created sharp beams of energy out of his hands once again.
"We shouldn't need to rely on ki alone if its the both of us."
Quickly spinning his arm in circles from his side, Nase chopped down three tentacles attempting to backstab Achido upon exit mid-sentence.
"I'll try and take care of roots and stuff like that. Can you find a way to beat the thing, if not break it down?"
Noticing the shirtless boy's physical strength as he readied for the battle, he shook his head with a smirk.
"You seem strong enough to handle that, right?"
With that, Nase powered up and launched himself into the air, slicing at one side of the mushroom tree's stalk, carving into it in the process and causing even more of its unnatural noises to spring out once again.
"Let's take this thing out fast so we can get out of here with the reward!"
Mentally, Nase hoped his cocky sentence wouldn't come to bite him later on. Nah, they won't let that happen. They got this.

Swinging his arms speedily around the tree, Nase tried his best to keep the mutant tree back from regenerating, cutting down all the roots and tentacles that appeared around him before they could even move around. He wasn't sure if cutting down all of these parts was stopping its energy-draining, but he didn't know what to do other than this. After a few moments longer, however, Nase grew tired from this and had to retract the ki blades from his body, his energy signature quickly lowering from 500 all the way back to 0. Another positive of being a cyborg is that his power level could drop all the way to undetectable if he doesn't use it. And when dealing with a ki draining creature, 0 might be a good thing to avoid losing energy.
"Gah... This thing's taking forever."
Ready to finish the tree off for good, Nase looked over at the blonde teen next to him and made a face of confusion when he pulled out a phone and began texting to someone on it. Before he could ask him what it was about, the tree began to regenerate from its wounds once again. Dang, he couldn't really stop for a second, could he? Stomping out a small root that decided to poke out of the ground, Nase yelled out to his teammate to try to get some assistance.
"Hey, what are you doing?!"
Seemingly not hearing Nase at all, Achido continued to text for a moment, before putting it away and going into a crouch.
"On my way!"
Before the disgruntled Nase could ask if he was talking to him or the person on the phone, all that was left in the space he was in was a yellow streak as he flew off from the Mushroom Forest into the deeper parts of the populated area Pilaf Land, leaving Nase to do all the work by himself.
"What the?! Get back here!"
Unfortunately, it was too late for him to hear the angry Nase anymore, as he already sped off to wherever he was going. Dang it. Well, he couldn't waste time getting upset about it at this point. Stepping back as a wild tentacle sped past his face, Nase put up his arms ahead of his face as more followed suit, trying to knock him down as fast as possible. Ugh, this was getting worse and worse.
Sigh, am I really going have to put up with all of this but myself? I better get paid extra for this!"
Yelling out to nobody in particular, Nase powered up once more to push all of them to the side and managed to jump away right before roots spiked up from the ground. He must have found some way to anger the giant mushroom, because it seemingly was coming up with new techniques to try and stop him as time progressed. Great, it was learning. Whoever, or whatever caused the mushroom to become like this, Nase would have some strong words to say to them if he ever got his hands on them. But now, he just had to make sure he beat this thing before it beat him.
Rushing towards the stalk of the mutant again, Nase quickly found the source of the screech, as on the side of the mushroom tree, was a face that had sharp, jack-o-lantern like teeth that continuously went up and down as it went. Creepy. As Nase hopped into the air to avoid a root that swiped at his foot, he quickly stuck out both of his legs out and drop kicked the stalk to try and damage it without resorting to ki usage. This, unluckily for Nase, didn't do any visible effect to it, and instead, just gave the mushroom enough time to wrap one of its longer appendages around his legs, lifting him up in the process.
"Gah! Let go already!"
Fighting against the strange capture device, the dark Tuffle, instead of trying to rip off the tentacle or cut through it, grabbed the end of it and for a reason that Nase didn't understand and attempted to drain the energy out of it to try and stop it with its own technique. The only issue with this, however, is the fact that Nase heavily underestimated the amount of ki that had been stolen by the infestation he was working on. Immediately becoming overwhelmed by the energy, Nase's body began to glow bright green as he suddenly exploded with power, incinerating all of the plant life around him as he fell.
"Gahhhh!"
Slowly pushing himself up with his elbow, he watched as the remainders of singed parts of the mutant flailing around as they moved away from Nase, a pained shriek noise emphasizing the damage as it egressed. Nase didn't come out of that without a hitch either, regrettably. Feeling a hot pain in his left arm, Nase could only wonder what the mushroom was feeling... if it could feel, anyway.
"So... if there's too much energy in me at once, I instantly release it? The more you know, I guess."
Looking back at the tree ahead of him, Nase wondered if this was even worth it at this point. No matter what these people here in Pilaf paid him, it wouldn't be worth fighting some monster that could probably beat him into a drained husk if he wasn't careful. And even then, this thing was absorbing life force out of the surrounding area like crazy! It was much faster than any type of absorption he could even think of attempting, just one point that told Nase just how out of his league he was doing this. But... no matter how this was a horrible idea, he couldn't just let this go on without stopping it. He remembered the people that they found in the forest earlier and how distraught and weakened they had become from just being in the vicinity of this creature. Even the plant and small animal life around the area looked like it was failing due to this. Whatever this monster was or what caused it, Nase felt that the couldn't just ignore it.
As Nase stood in front of the regenerating fungus, one of the Pilaf Land industry workers ran to the edge of the mutant's range of effect and yelled out to him, barely able to see him through the thick forest.
"Hello? Is anyone still there?"
"Yeah, I'm here! Everything alright out there?"
"I was sent to see if you all were still here; There are people that were in here when we called for your help, are they alright?"
"Yeah, we got them out when we got here, and I'm going to try and take out the tree now."
"What about the other two?"
Sighing to himself, Nase clenched a fist and spoke with a melancholy tone after a pause.
"...It's... It's just me now."
"W-what?! But that creature- are you going to be alright?"
Looking away from the voice and instead turning back to glare at the just-mentioned monster, Nase clenched his fists and spoke again.
"...I've got this, it's fine. I'll be out soon enough."
Not wanting to continue the conversation, Nase began walking forward, the mushroom finally having calmed down from the damage it had recently taken. Waiting until he was right up at the base of the mushroom tree, Nase noticed that all of the tentacle-like vines and even the tree had stopped moving, as if it was confused. For some reason, it was as if it didn't know he was there anymore. But, that would be changed very soon.
"Alright, you mutated copycat, let's see if your stolen ki is better than mine."
Unknowingly raising his power level to the point that an aura appeared around him, Nase got into his Tàijí quán stance and pointed his open hands towards the tree, the hatches on them opening as fast as possible. This time, Nase wasn't going to hold back his energy anymore to just ki blades. Post 2 1342|1898 WC

Becoming brighter and brighter, Nase's aura began to glow an obvious green that could even be seen by the man outside of the forest. This brilliant light that was coming off was the most he had ever released at once, and even someone that couldn't sense ki at all would have to acknowledge someone with a power level in the 5,000s. This ki-less man, in particular, saw the stunning light and began to step back, hearing of the mushroom tree's drain abilities from beforehand and assumed that this was it. If it was... Then that would mean the man inside was in danger! Trying to think of what to do, the man thought about going inside to see if he really was in need of assistance, but thought against it once he heard what came after the light.
"SKRAAAAAAAH!"
Anything that made a noise like that was not anywhere near worth his pay rate (not that he got paid that well at Pilaf Land anyway), so instead, the worker decided the best course of action was to run off and try and get help from someone that actually could hold their own in a fight. Ironically, him leaving the forest alone was perfect in Nase's eyes. You don't need an audience for a brawl when all they're going to do is strengthen your opponent. And speaking of which, that high-pitched noise t gave off and its jack-o-lantern like face both showed that it was ready to crack him in two now that he had revealed his large amount of power, meaning that both of the energy devourers were ready to end the other. It was all now just a matter of who...
"SKREEEEEEEEEEE!!!"
Trying not to go deaf from the screeching and shrieking that the mutated tree was letting loose, Nase only got more and more enraged as time passed. He gueesed that it was reacting to his power increase more than anything else, but this was excessively annoying. Having a very prominent vein appear on his forehead, the glowing figure spoke with a very irritated tone, not dissimilar to your stereotypical Saiyan once they had gained the upper hand in a battle.
"You know that I already want to destroy you, right? Making this much noise isn't going to do much for you other than making me want to uproot you even faster!"
Huh... That actually felt... kinda good.
Apparently, the mushroom got the message, because after he finished speaking, three of its tentacles sprung into action, launching towards him with the goal of draining his power once again. Prepared for that, Nase made sure that the overgrown mushroom wasn't getting away with it this time. Slapping away the fungus' appendages with the back of his hand, he quickly pushed out his right palm and clenched his fist hard, causing a red sword of energy to form off of his knuckles. While the tentacles tried to stop and return to their target, Nase had already boosted ahead and come into close range of its trunk. With the efficiency, speed and even pose of a ninja taking his mark, Nase appeared behind the mutant with a skid, carving adeep slash into the fungus' large stalk. While the hit wasn't as thorough as he wished, it still was a strong hit that sizzled at the cut flesh of the mushroom.
"(Didn't go straight through, huh? This thing is tougher than I thought.)"
Turning around, Nase felt a slight amount of fatigue go over him as he saw the mushroom begin to heal. So that's how it worked... It feeds off of people's energy to grow stronger, and when it's hurt, it uses its ability to heal itself instead.
"(That's a pretty terrifying power set. That also means that I'll still be drained at any chance the tree gets... I should be immune to its area of effect draining though.)"
Ending his energy blade's duration, Nase opened his hand slowly and stood fully up again, ready to make another move. The tree, however, decided that it was his turn to get beat down. It must really want to heal fast, I guess. Whatever number it had reached by this point, the toadstool monster slung salvo after salvo of alien arms after him in an attempt to stop him, putting Nase on high alert as they arrived, but that didn't mean that this was its final gambit. As Nase jumped backwards, multiple roots shot out of ground at him, something that he barely missed getting hit by thanks to his Sky Dance Art. Wanting a second to breathe, the viridescent brawler would have to wait a bit longer as even after both of those daunting advances, the mutant tree still had a defense mechanism remaining.
"OW!"
Did... the tree just bite him? Trying to get over how stupid the scenario he was in sounded, the enraged Nase decided that no matter the scenario, he wouldn't let this thing win. It didn't even have a brain, so he definitely wasn't going to get outsmarted by it! Watching the exposed roots try to reenter the dirt, Nase quickly released a barrage of ki balls after them, breaking them off one by one without much resistance. Hearing a faint sizzling noise to accompany the roots breaking, Nase fell down to his feet, trying to avoid the anger of the mutant as he saw the area around him begin to heal. Perfect. Seeing that he was still getting some success in this battle of atrition, Nase smirked as one of slimy tentacles slammed into his raised palm, causing him to absorb its energy once again. His aura escalating more and more, the now experienced Nase raised another open hand to the swarming growth about to reach him and tensed it hard.
"Neutron... HYPERNOVA!"
Was calling a move with a little more power by a different name kinda silly? Very likely, but Shooting Stars and Neutron Star were basically the same move, but they had different names, so he thought he might as well go for it at this time. Either way, if any attack Nase had ever used was worthy of being called 'hyper', this was it. The astonishing flash came from his arm was so bright, one would think that Nase had actually summoned a real nova to attack some vine-like arms ahead of him. Either way, dying star or not, there was nothing left to keep those vines alive anymore as they vaporized in the light.
"Hah! You're losing the battle, you-"
Turning around to gloat, he was quickly shut up by a piece of wood hitting him in the jaw and forcing him to stumble back.
"(Gh!!! Guess I can't be cocky just yet... This just makes me want to cleave it in half though!)"
Forming a mass of ki around his fist, Nase stomped through the plant that was in his way and sent a powerful overhead punch into the stalk of the mushroom, causing it to jiggle leisurely.
"(Tough AND elastic?! Are you kidding me?! This thing is cheating!)"
Though he had just felt the rubber-like nature of the giant fungus, looking down, he saw that the slash he had cut into the mushroom still hadn't healed, though it did look like it was still trying to. This gave Nase an idea, one that both sides of him could agree on. Reeling back his fist, a green flame formed over once again as he shot his fist at the same spot as before, causing a decently loud impact this time around. Unfortunately for the tree, however, this wasn't the last hit he would give out. Repeating with his other hand, this time coloured red, he sent another significantly powerful attack into the same spot as last time. Steadily, Nase began increasing the speed of these attacks until there was less than half a second in between the constant strikes he was letting loose. This repetitive assault became louder too as in continued to the point that anyone nearby would have mistaken it for heavy machinery work over the horizon. That is, until they heard the faint screaming come from the same direction. Still continuing his ki-powered onslaught, the humanoid drainer readily beat down his rooted equivalent until it stopped shrieking, finally looking at his target once again. Looking down at once used to be a giant fungal tree, Nase now saw that his rapid-fire hits not only damaged it greatly, but had opened up the cut outto the point it was leaning backwards and almost fully chopped down, save for a small amount of flesh remaining. Seeing that he had done enough damage, Nase jumped away from his enemy and took a moment to rest. Sighing out loud, the glowing energy that Nase was able to control had disappeared as doubled over from exhaustion.
"That... should be enough... I can't tell how much energy that was, but... It has to be dead by now... Hah, I can barely move right now..."
Panting hard after the extreme workout he just went through, the adult Tuffle was basically unmoving save for his heavy breathing. Surprisingly enough though, his efforts hadn't fully worked just as yet. The static face of the mushroom tree while looking like death, was actually the mutant creature faking as its damaged body fruitlessly tried to heal itself. It just didn't have enough energy to do so at this point. But the Tuffle ahead of him was basically a walking energy pack! If it could find a way to beat him, it could live forever! Actually, the threat looked like it had stopped for now. Was it tired? Whatever it was, the mutant tree knew that it had no time to waste at this point. The mushroom had two primal urges to live by: absorb life and grow stronger, and both were spiralling out of control by now. Waiting until what it deemed to be the perfect time to return fire, the tree sent its last resort tactic out by sending the only vine it still had under control after the Tuffle threat's head, aiming to strike him done in an instant. C\Rushing through the air at an unbelievable speed, the reddish tentacle shot out like a chameleon's tongue for Nase, preparing to crack his school with one move-
Snatch!
"Heh, Psych."
Instantly changing from a save of smug victory to shock, the mutated mushroom tree watched as Nase stood up, having caught the remaining tentacle as if it was a fist. He was faking being tired?! Looking down at his catch and smiling, Nase took a step towards the tree, showing that he ready to end this now. Realizing its attack had failed, it immediately tried to pull away, but all that happened was that the young adult would tighten his grip on the appendage, opening the stigmata-esque hole in his left hand.
"Well, you won't be needing this anymore."
With one quick motion, Nase took off the front of the tentacle with a violent rip and began to drain it until it flattened. The mutated creature cried out again, but by now, Nase had gotten used to it making its ear-splitting noise. Dropping the now greyed limb from his hand as the tree retracted the remainder, Nase began to speak.
"The fact that you steal the life-force of everything around you hasn't really been resolved yet, and I can't risk you becoming stronger again if you somehow regenerate fro this... so, I guess this is my only option. Not that I'm complaining either way."
Putting both of his hands flat together, Nase began to charge power into his palms as they slowly separated. Suddenly, a green orb of ki formed in between them that kept getting bigger and bigger as his hands moved further apart. It continually grew until it became the size of a beach ball.
"Double... Neutron... Supernova!!!"
Even people on the other side of the Pilaf Land were said to have seen the green beacon that suddenly lit up in the mushroom forest that day. The full power that was absorbed from the mutant was an extreme amount of energy that not even its user was prepared for. Watching as the mushroom was reduced into a silhouette by the stunning flash of energy that he shot out, Nase wasn't sure if making separate ones with each hand was necessary. Well, I guess it made sure that it couldn't come back, but geez. The final scream that the demon tree gave out as it was incinerated, didn't really make him feel any calmer while doing it, however. Looking down after the fact, Nase saw smoke rising from the ground where the stump was, and nothing but char and burn marks for the remainder of the stalk and crown. Eventually, the dust settled around him and he could see the evil mutant mushroom had been burn to ash... that is excpet for the very bottom wear the stump was. Covered in soot from its own body, the only lasting proof that the mushroom tree was ever there sat, with something peculiar coming fro the bottom. Was that anothe one? A small, blue-glowing fungus appeared to be growing right out of the stump of the last, as if nothing had happened.
Seeing this, and realizing that he was in danger of repeating what he had worked so hard to do, Nase plucked the growing mutant with a quick 'nope' and pocketed it in his jacket, left to most likely be forgot in there. He didn't really check in there much anyways.
"Man, I really hate mushrooms..."
Having said this with a slow shake of his head, the teen turned aroundslowly and heard multiple footsteps running towards him as a group of people seemingly came to his rescue. Firefighters, police officers and even the original worker that higher Nase and the others came to the clearing Nase was at and looked dumbfounded at the missing mushroom tree and the calm looking, yet very accomplished man standing where it once stood.
"Did... did you really destroy it by yourself?"
"Uh... yeah. So about my pay..." 2356|4254 WC Post 3 End Post
