Baccer nodded at Clove's response, hearing her talk about the fish they were eating. However, he didn't get an answer to the more.. personal question. She was either dodging it or simply didn't hear him. He was hoping the latter but decided to not press the subject further. Maybe she didn't know herself?. The scientists at capsule corp did try to familiarise him with social norms. -mostly unsuccessfully- So he knew that non-androids could often do stuff out of impulse, just because they felt like it
Eventually, his focus landed on the pink Majin who seemed to be devouring the sandwich with all she had. It was rather rude. Yes, downright savage as behaviours go. But why'd she looked like she was having so much fun?. The Bugman looked down at his own burger, contemplating whether he should follow her example... Aw, what the hell. He began digging in too, trying to mimic the way Zam was wolfing down her food, but still being too restrained to quite match her. It looked just like it was: a mimicry. The Android eventually put it down and began eating at a slower pace again, his self-consciousness catching up with him.
Though the entire incident did seem to put him in a contemplative mood. He still was nowhere closer to figuring out where or even if he belonged among those people, simply trying to mimic their behaviour, goals and aspirations. The only real desire he had was figuring out the world around him. And he suspected even that was just a means to an end. He thought of the people around him. Zam. Was she his... friend?. Rival?. He seemed to try and catch up to her in terms of power, and even go out of his way to impress her. despite that, she always seemed to view him like she viewed the rest of the world: Mostly neutrally, judging people as to whether they make her happy or angry and not bothering with deeper interpersonal relationships... that made him unhappy, but he couldn't figure out why. Maybe because he's never had any friends, and she was so far off from the concept he had in his mind?.
Then again, was clove his friend?. No... it didn't feel that way. She was more like a mentor, someone that looked after him and Zam. Possibly out of intrigue. They were admittedly both very unique as creatures, and with their seemingly vast potential, perhaps she was just interested to see how far they could go. Although, the reasons could be entirely personal. Clove might like looking after them because they were both clueless, two super-powered, clueless teens she can look after and feel good about herself... No, that seemed too selfish. Clove had been so kind to him, he felt guilty thinking about her doing such selfish acts... but then, why?
At that point, it dawned on him that he was basically having a staring contest with his hamburger for quite a while now and undoubtedly looked pretty darn strange to anyone that might have been observing him. Baccer couldn't help but feel like that was somehow his shortcoming. Wasn't he supposed to be the ultimate lifeform?. Then why did trivial issues such as this seem to grind his thought process to a halt again and again
"E-excuse me. I think i'll go outside for a bit..." He said, trying to -unsuccessfully- hide his concerned expression. Yeah, maybe some alone time was all he needed. Clear his thoughts, you know?. I mean, a being with the processing power of a supercomputer should be able to work through all of this by himself sooner or later... right?
