Protruding from the sand, a dark green edge lay as if a trap for unwary passersby. So small and insignificant compared to the shore, or the ocean beside it. Yet it was a danger, or at the very least an inconvenience. The specs of sand that decorated what was exposed seem to help camouflage it, make its intrusive existence stand out less, almost as if it were natural. Although it was anything but. The hard crystalline edge that just begged to cut something. Although it was inanimate, it seemed to carry a malicious, reckless energy about it. A finger, hard like wood, moved recklessly across the edge. The skin split and a trickle of blood seeped out. Jody, cursing her foolishness sucked on her finger, and with the other hand pulled out the broken bottle out of the sand. The faded label was the only other indicator needed to know that it was a cheap bottle of booze. Her face was sour as she scanned the area around her, as if to find a culprit who left the bottle there. But alas, she knew that any such culprit was long gone, as evident by the condition of the bottle. With a sigh she focused ki into her hand that held the broken glass. A cool heat seemed to fill every finger, before she closed them crushing the glass. Small weak beams of ki emitted between the gaps of her finger and when she let go dust was all that was left, returning it to the shore
The rain was beating down from the dark clouds above. A steady and strong wind blew in from the ocean bringing the smell of salt. It was fresh, it was breathtaking, Jody couldn’t help but to look at the dark raging waters. She burned the image into her mind not knowing how long she will have the opportunity to admire it again. Eventually she would continue on along the shore on to her destination. Red dirt still stained her boots despite the rain, the soles were near smooth in some areas and the leather was faded and worn. The sand that caked the bottoms of her boots were just another story amongst many that marked her boots.
The city ahead, west city, easily identifiable by their iconic skyline seem to take up most of the horizon, if it were not for the ocean next to it. Jody day dreamed about what the city would be like. Her pace quickened with an upbeat attitude, excited even though the only idea of what the city was like was from stories she was told from strangers and then things she had seen on the television. She tightened the drawstring bag and secured it to herself before leaping from the shore onto a nearby road, looking for a ride of any kind.
