Bone and cartilage crumpled like paper beneath the impact of his fist. A spurt of blood flew from the fighter's nose as he fell backward onto the ground, cradling his face in both hands and whimpering like a pet who had just been scolded.
It was lost amid the monotonous drone of the theme park music, the thundering rumble of the roller coasters, and the raucous laughter of elated children. So were the gasps of those who witnessed the event, their cries of alarm prompting a wide berth between themselves at the two individuals in the center. As quickly as it had begun, the fight was over.
Orizuru let out a long sigh and rolled his eyes. Everyone thought themselves a tough guy until you planted them on their ass.
"Dumb ass." Ori held his fist aloft and puffed on it, as if to clear away invisible smoke. "If you didn't know who she was, why the hell would you pretend?"
Ori started walking toward the man.
"W-Wait!"
He knelt on the ground, blood spattering the front of his clothes. His trembling hands raised as if to ward off any further attacks.
He stank of fear.
Ori squatted before him, a look of boredom on his face. "Tall. Orange hair, kinda naive. Annoyingly strong. Do you know her or not?"

Location : Pilaf Land, Earth

Time : 11 : 00 Temperature : ≈ 28.05 °C
Weather : Sunny
Merriment and mischief. Fun and games. Cash and collateral. The sun brought dazzling rays of light to brighten such a joyful day ahead. Murmuring from the crowd within this theme park came almost hypnotically. It was easy for one to get lost within the peculiar charm and whimsy of this magical land of dreams. Perhaps even a certain mercenary was enjoying himself in this colourful metal jungle.
The aforementioned figure stood before a stall whose canopy bore red and white. Fragrant spices topped the many succulent slabs of meat sizzling above a clean grill. Hot dogs. Better yet, hot dogs made using high-quality meat.
Beneath his stoic expression laid a young man who was almost ready to explode. The food was so close, yet just out of his grasp. Time seemed to grind to an agonising halt as the man preparing this delicacy slowly rolled the sausages over. All in due course for the main event- placing it within a crisp, half-toasted bun. If his customer was any hungrier, he may very well have been salivating.
And then the screaming came. Bloodcurdlingly so.
Of all the most inopportune moments, it had to be then. This brought the mercenary to give a brief nod to the hotdog-selling stranger prior to bounding off in the direction from which he heard the shouts. Footsteps flitted across pavement and slate in a rhythmic pitter-patter. From roof to roof he then leapt. With swiftness and certainty in every movement while making his way towards them.
Dust fled from the space he landed. The hazel-haired young man saw the situation in full. Not quite from the start, but just after the first few ribs or so were broken. He held up a palm in a naive attempt to signal the parties to halt.
“Hyperventilation, dilated pupils, and sweating are all signs indicative of high anxiety when considered cumulatively. That or exhaustion,” he spoke in a mechanically methodical tone of voice. Other than that, the young man sounded almost as plain and unrecognisable as any other stranger. “Or a multitude of other possible conditions.”
“I would advise ceasing this activity immediately, and consuming large quantities the Pilafland© Senzu-Shake.”

There was an unexpected intrusion.
A new fighter entered the fray. He interjected himself into the situation, drawing both the attention and the ire of the Paper Crane. He spoke in a monotonous drawl, informing both men to cease their fighting at once.
Ori quirked an eyebrow and studied the being.
He spoke strangely, boasting an unnatural inflection. It reminded Ori more of a robot than a man, and try as he might, he couldn't pick up an inkling of spirit energy. These idiots were like flies, buzzing their way right into the sticky tack paper. But maybe he'd be of some use.
"Scram, dumb ass. It's your lucky night."
Ori gestured over his shoulder with a jab of his thumb. The injured man didn't need to be told twice. He beat a hasty retreat into the ogling crowd as Ori walked toward the newcomer.
"Listen, buddy. I'm kinda in the middle of something here. So let's keep this short, alright?" He stepped close and placed a hand on the guy's shoulder. "I'm looking for a girl. Orange hair, really strong."
A false smile graced his lips, yet did little to broach the chill in his eyes.
"You seen her?"

“I have no knowledge of any person bearing those characteristics,” answered the young man bluntly. Amber irises panned over at the retreating man. Neither sigh, nor smile in relief took place. Any compassion he had for the injured party had already been spent. Acting tough simply for the sake of impressing others qualified him for the status bestowed to him by Orizuru- ‘dumbass’. Axon had fully accomplished his goal in arriving to the scene- saving the said dumbass.
Yet, he stood. Yet, he stayed.
“It takes around four thousand Newtons of force to break bone.” Other factors included angle of applied pressure, the density of the bone, and overall structure of the part. Glancing over the wounds inflicted yielded little in terms of detail, save for the fact that the force was applied slowly. Deliberately even. It was as if a section of his ribcage came under the effect of a hydraulic press.
The figure was intrigued by his findings. Perhaps even surprised. Hence, he proceeded with a foolhardy course of action.
“Please enlighten me as to the meaning of your strength.” Legs parted from their strict upright stance. He lead with his left foot forward whilst his right remained behind him. Knees bent lightly whilst arms raised at the ready. It was an orthodox stance, if not somewhat slackened to allow for free-flowing movements.
A ‘martial artist’ in a somewhat looser meaning of the term. ‘Martial practitioner’ might be a tinge more suitable for this specimen.

The stranger didn't know Carrot Top, either. Ori frowned and folded his arms with an irritated huff. The nerve of this guy, busting up his interrogation only to provide no information himself. The night dragged on all around them. He'd been stalking these grounds for weeks now, trying to find that girl and he wasn't any closer tonight than he'd been the first day he began his hunt. A fight wasn't worth all this trouble. "Whatever, loser. I'm outta here." He gave a dismissive wave and shoved his hands into his pockets before turning to walk away. He was stopped in his tracks by the stranger's odd request. The man was requesting a fight with him. He wanted to know the secret to Ori's strength. There was just one problem with that—there was no secret. Nothing beyond what any other martial artist did in the constant honing and shaping of mind, body, and spirit. There were no shortcuts to power; if there were shortcuts, Ori would have explored each avenue in its entirety. But he did not want a false strength. He wanted a strength that could make a difference. Scaring the hell out of people was a nice bonus. Ori turned to face the man. "Fine. But if you bore me, I'm walking away. Fair warning." He took no fighting stance, nor prepared himself for the bout in any shape or fashion. His placid mask of boredom remained fixed in place as he regarded the man. More specifically, the various ways in which he was going to murder this guy. ORIZURU SHENSUMMARY PHASE.

{Spoiler}{Spoiler}
Strength. Power. Might. All three terms were synonymous with one another, yet all of them were usually conflated with a more literal definition of strength- physical vigour. Such a perspective would not be entirely wrong to take or possess. However, the meaning of power that our young fighter perceived was as broad and as vast as the sea.
Money is strength.
Influence is strength.
Skill is strength.
Those who only limited their definition to mere muscle will fall to the wayside in the game of life. Of course, the power that he wished to gauge laid more along the lines of martial prowess. Would he overcome this hurdle with pure brute force? Would he utilise some strange technique to his advantage? Would he surprise him with something else?
Likely in all scenarios. Though now was not the time for him to cast any assumptions. Yet.
Once the confirmation of his offer had been given, he nodded to Orizuru. Hands that were lifted up before him then clenched tightly into fists.
Hisss.
Thin lines of steam wafted up from the surface of exposed flesh. The very air around him began to shimmer and shake. Compared to the light bobbing of foot to foot he executed before, the young man was standing entirely still. Muscles flexed harder, blood flowed faster, his nails dug into his palms. Then all at once-
“Combination A.”
He burst forth, appearing in front of his opponent. The only indication that he had displaced himself in the man’s direction were the trails of steam which followed behind shortly before vanishing completely. A harsh screech came alongside this- comparable to rubber soles wounding themselves against a clean gym-hall floor.
There he stood for a split second. His expression; whilst almost as blank as a canvas; possessed one difference this time. Eyes were wide with focus.
Not a moment later, fists came flying forth in number and volume comparable to a herd of bison thundering across the savannah. The speed and frequency at which they were flung made his arms appear in multiple places at once. At the very end of this chain of jabs came a single right straight for his foe’s centre mass.

The fighter moved with a devilish speed the natural eye could not trace, and with no way to detect his foe's ki signature, it left Ori all but blind. Good thing he'd long been taught not to rely on something as frivolous as eye sight. The shifting air pressure gave his foe away. Ori ducked and weaved the flurry of lighting-quick blows with the efficient ease of a seasoned fighter. "Is that the best you've got—OOF!"His chest caved beneath the heavy unexpected blow, his hubris having caused him to lose focus. His feet sought purchase against the ground as he slid backward and slammed into a game booth, which crumpled beneath his weight. He climbed out of the wreckage and spat a gob of blood onto the ground. "My turn." He slouched forward, letting his upper body dangle as if overcome with sudden exhaustion. His limbs swayed back and forth in a rhythmic pattern, much like a metronome keeping time. Dead Man's Dance, a technique he stole from an island fighter, was a hypnotic suggestion technique that enthralled its observer. Ori stalked forward like a zombie, the strange sashaying dance both unique and eerie. Ori pounced at his foe, seeking to slam the point of his elbow into his opponent's sternum and crush him with a singular blow. ORIZURU SHENSUMMARY PHASE.

Just as our young mercenary managed to land a single hit upon his foe, he could already tell something about that collision was off. Very very off. Indeed the blow was solid and it did send the man flying off and into a stall, but it did little more than that. Only mere seconds later was he greeted by the sight of Orizuru climbing out of it as if the attack had not even phased him in the slightest.
Blood spat out was a sign of injury. However, the fighter was unsure as to the extent of any damage he caused. Only one truth on the matter was uncovered by him- no time should be allotted for his opponent to recover. There was no doubt that his silver-haired foe was dangerous beyond belief. Surviving a hit which possessed a force comparable to a truck speeding down Pilafland’s highway and coming out with minimal wounds displayed his immense durability.
Hopefully, testing the limits of his foe as a warrior would bring him some insight as to the nature of this strength.
One. One swift step took place for his target. By this time, the strange swaying motion had began to take place. Dead Man’s Dance- how morbidly appropriate. The swinging arms, stuttered steps, and stumbling stances echoed after every pause. It looked like his foe was mimicking something between a drunkard attempting to stay upright and a battered boxer on his last legs.
Two. Three. Three steps forward. Three images of Orizuru. The young man could hardly believe his eyes. Even his opponent performed the slow manoeuvre, after-images of each and every move burned itself into the air. It was at that point where he started to become somewhat confused. He could not tell if his own movements slowed or if the man accelerated far above a level he was capable of comprehending.
Four. Four steps in total. Ten. Six. Twenty-four foes. What was going on? Where was he? What was he doing again? Questions whose answers were once clear then became muddied along with the images he saw ahead. The young man knew that he had something to approach. However, all he could see was the blurred swaths of colour in front of him. The crowd, the park, and even the floor faded from view. His body felt heavy. He wanted to go to sleep.
Fi-
WHAM.
An elbow slammed right into his chest, swatting him downwards with immense force. It was enough to crack the pavement below him as his body made contact with it. He sank a whole inch into the ground- limp and seemingly lifeless.
The crowd grew silent. Nobody knew how to react to this abrupt ending.
The crowd went wild. People panicked and started to run away- trampling over each other in their attempts to escape from the scene.
A few seconds passed. No movement. None except a single twitch of his fingers. Following minuscule movement was an abrupt slam of his palm against the ground. He propped himself up with it, sweeping with a leg under his opponent’s own. Whether or not this was to any effect, he then proceeded to launch an uppercut thereafter. Legs extended in front of him in order to hop backwards after the assault was made. He needed to make some space between them to ponder upon the topic and guide the flow of battle according to his whims.
“Like a stoat or a cobra,” he mused between laboured breaths. The weight imposed on his own body was all but relieved. His mind had snapped out of the initial trance, yet his form felt weak. Cobras. Stoats. Both animals are hypothesised to hypnotise their prey via performing strange, repetitive motions. This seemed akin to a supernaturally-enhanced version of the technique.
It all reinforced his idea of how dangerous this man was.

What a lightweight. The fighter's body impacted the ground, fracturing the cement and causing those standing nearby to flee. He wasn't down for long. His palm smacked the ground, granting him the leverage for a rushing leg sweep. Ori's eyes widened as it caught him behind his knees, lifting him clean off the ground. His arms windmilled in shock as the brief lapse in gravity threw even his keen fighting senses. This man—perhaps even an android—was insanely deft with his movements. Ori couldn't let him steal his balance; a fighter's balance was the fine thread between victory and a crushing defeat. Spinning horizontally in the air like a top, Ori avoided the soaring uppercut that nearly caught his jaw and attempted to plant both feet into his foe's chest, ignoring the lingering pain in his legs from Axon's assault. Ori sought to follow up on his strange—yet hopefully effective—counter as he rushed in, seeking to dip past the android's tight guard. Streams of flowing white ki seemed to trail from his hands as he utilized his family's signature martial technique—the Ambush Palm. His hands were little more than a blurred salvo of palm strikes and knife hand chops, powerful enough to render a boulder to rubble in a matter of minutes. ORIZURU SHENSUMMARY PHASE.

No luck in landing the uppercut. No fortune in backing off.
As soon as he dropped his opponent’s balance, the fighter managed to redirect himself in midair and land two simultaneous kicks. A grand crack erupted from the air between them as he was shunted away from Orizuru. The young man’s body rotated violently whilst being flung back. Teeth grit, muscles flexed, and feet eventually caught themselves against solid pavement.
And even then, he had little time to react.
A hail of open hands lashed out at his form. The first hit slammed the top of his head, causing it to buckle downwards. The next bashed a shoulder, rocking his body back. Again and again, his form shivered and rebounded as blow after blow landed upon him. He could barely keep his eyes open to see through the hail of incoming attacks.
Adapt.
By some miracle, he managed to regain his footing. Forearms raised up in front of himself to block, absorbing a slight amount of the damage dealt upon him. Small, but enough. It allowed him to continue standing.
“Pause,” he spoke rather abruptly. A palm was raised as if to signal for a time-out. Should the cease-fire occur, he would then pat down his clothes to clean it of any dirt that had accumulated. Not that it entirely mattered after the last ambush palm. Cuts and rips in his shirt were already apparent- as was bruising in some areas. More prominently his arms.
“Whole-body momentum is not utilised in any allocated strikes.” Compared to his mechanical tone from before, this dissection of technique sounded a tinge more elated. His expression was as flat as ever, but he spoke rather rapidly. “Your arms are propelled outward at a rate meant to overwhelm a target while targeting the extremities.”
“I know my limits and when to call quits.”
