The countdown on the fallen monstrosities' chest continued, and it seemed to all gathered that it was both far too quick and, simultaneously, stretched on into eternity.
The assembled fighters were quick to escape the area, and showed forethought; the self destruct was, in fact, designed to go off early if tampered with. The 90 seconds cut it close, but all the adventurers were able to escape the blast radius. When the bomb exploded, it was potent, completely consuming the immediate area and, in fact, two square blocks of property in the south district. Luckily, Joan Blackheart was no fool, and had sent tiny drones to follow the fighters in to their encounter with Rotaro. Capsule Corp, being Capsule Corp, had scanned the area and detected high amounts of explosives, and had been able to evacuate the area in time.
There were enough drones to stay with the group if they went their separate ways, and Joan used them to send a message.
"Well! That could have gone pretty sideways! It's a good thing we contacted your group... and, I will take this opportunity to remind you all of the non-disclosure agreements that you signed along with your consent forms and liability waivers," she said, smiling like a shark. "Everything that just occurred is a confidential Capsule Corp matter. For your service, funds will be made available to you, and we may seek you out as... consultants in the future, if we have need of your unique skills. Capsule Corp, and West City, of course, is in your debt; this could have ended with a much bigger pile of bodies if not for your intervention. Your payment will be deposited into your accounts tomorrow... do yourselves a favor and buy something nice, won't you?"
At that, the message would cut off and the drones would leave, returning to their operators for maintenance. Joan sighed to herself, then glanced backwards at the seated individual who had been observing that exchange.
"Well? What do you think?", she asked. She did not like this person, and she did not like the business necessities that made them allies. Still, for now, it was best not to make any enemies... not until she was ready to act against him.
The individual rose. He was pudgy, blonde and bespectacled, and wore a white lab coat. His grin was unsettling, and he spoke with a bit of an accent.
"Why yes... I do think some of them will serve as excellent specimens for what I have in mind..."

West City Blues has come to an end. I will get grading up a bit later.
