A bustling crowd of demons stood about a hundred feet away from the horrific sight they saw before them, their faces twisted with fear, anxiety, and pure rage. They spoke loudly among each other, openly expressing the sheer amount of hostility they naturally harbored, a lot of them feeling angry with themselves for not being able to stop this. They were simply too weak. They were all cowards. It wasn't that they couldn't stop this from happening, it's that they didn't want to. It was almost certain, that if they all banded together, they could easily overcome the threat that stood before them. Yet still, they simply stood there. Eyes wide, mouths agape, and eyebrows(?) raised.
Useless... Pitiful... Worthless.
There she was. The true monster that was Nerferu in her nun form, standing amidst a pile of broken rubble, holding a beaten, bleeding and defeated demon by the collar. Her sinister aura glowed around her in a shade of black, as tiny sparks of red electricity sparked around her. She felt powerful. She felt like a true executioner. She felt like a hero. Stalking forward, the shapeshifter dragged the demon through the rubble, all while staring at the group of demons with her eyes which lacked pupils. She wore a signature frown, one that put her disappointment on public display. Soon, she arrived at the end of the pile of broken rock, and tossed the demon in front of the large group.
"Tch. Typical demons. Strong to the weak, and weak to the strong. You are all pathetic. Seriously."
She cocked her head to the side, a loud crack being audible as she did so. Her eyebrows furrowed as her eyes swept across the crowd. None of them were powerful. None of them were even decently strong. At least not to Copy.
"Well then. It seems that no one here can challenge me. You can all be great someday, but unfortunately, none of you seem to understand that."
Although, in that very moment, there was one demon- an idiot, who pushed and shoved his way through the crowd. A flicker of emotion crossed Copy's face as the bold and foolish demon waded through the sea of demons.
"Are you absolutely sure about that?"
Copy's face twitched. Who was this person? And why wasn't his power being showcased?
"About what?"
"Do you really believe that anyone can be great?"
"With enough effort... yes..."
The demon's voice was suddenly shrouded with anger, as he finally emerged from the crowd.
"Is that where I went wrong?! I simply didn't put in enough effort?!"
The demon stared at Copy with conviction and determination, seemingly being the only demon in the entire village who dared to stand before her. At least one of them wasn't a complete coward. Calmly, Copy locked eyes with the demon, before her face turned into one of pure rage.
"You dare interrupt me like this?"
Yeah! He had interrupted her! That deserved punishment! The demon stared at Copy, eyes flashing with the same anger.
"You.... You...!"
He calmed down all of sudden, and gave Copy a meaningful stare.
"Are... Neferu..."
Copy's rage subsided for a moment, replaced with arrogance and cockiness. It was about time someone remembered her after all of these years.
"Took you long enough."
"I see that time has made you bitter..."
"And it's made you, Oversis... an even bigger fool."
Yes... that was his name... Oversis. He had always been one of the weaker demons that sympathized with Copy, as he was also knocked around roughly on a weekly basis, much like all weaklings. He had grown... a lot in strength, and he'd most likely be the prime example of what training can really do. That is, if he managed to escape Copy's wrath alive... Her white eyes narrowed at the poor demon, a bit upset that he had apparently wasted her time.
"I promised all you demons greatness! So now, I'll deliver."
The Shapeshifter raised a hand, and an orb of boiling black energy formed in it. Suddenly, she was skidding across the dirt floor, like a flat rock would on the surface of a peaceful lake. She slammed into an unsuspecting hut, and went straight through the walls of the structure. It caved in, and crumbled into nothing but a pile of rubble, burying the shapeshifter beneath it. A cloud of dust was kicked up, and obscured the view of the broken hut. There stood Oversis, fist raised and thrust forward, his colorless aura flaring around him in a flame-like pattern, the dust around him being blown away harmlessly. The demons behind him held each and every one of their breaths as the dust cloud began to fly away, their faces looking on in fright.
Oversis himself began to approach the newly made pile of rubble, his dragonic face sweating bullets. They shot downwards before meeting the tip of his pointed chin, and falling to the ground and splashing softly against the dry dirt. His teeth were grit, and his face made no effort to hide his growing determination. His footsteps fell softly, and left tracks in the dirt behind him. With each step, he grew more anxious. The sheer amount of anticipation in the air was unsettling for all of the demons. But either way, the dragonic demon knew that he had to stand and fight if no one else would.
He was about one hundred meters away from the rubble when suddenly, a pillar of negative energy shoots directly upwards from it. The broken pieces of rock and building materials were tossed to the side, being thrown towards other demons that tried to avoid them, failing. Oversis crossed both his arms, the powerful gust of wind blown towards him being sudden and unexpected. It failed to move him, but either way, a feeling of helplessness clouded his mind as his old acquaintance emerged from the rubble, her awesome aura thrashing around her violently, showcasing the gargantuan amount of rage that enveloped her. The energy seemed to flow off of her in waves, overheating the air around her. She spoke quietly to Oversis, and oddly enough, didn't seem angry.
"I must say... Oversis, that was rather impressive. You've grown in power since the last time I've seen you."
She stepped down, towards Oversis, and away from the rubble.
"We haven't talked for a long time, fool. And this is how you greet me?"
"Shut up, Nerferu. I-"
A punch sends the demon sliding across the dirt on his feet, leaving deep tracks in the earth. He placed a hand on his now broken nose, darkened blood gushing out of it.
"That was for calling me Nerferu. It's Copy to you, demon."
He snarled at the shapeshifter, his sharpened teeth baring.
"Shut... up... Nerferu... Nothing you say matters to me anymore. I'm stronger than ever.
Copy frowned at him, and raised an arm at the demon, a swirling orb of black energy forming within her opened palm.
"You are not the only one who has gotten stronger."
The sphere of energy flew towards Oversis at quite the speed, however, he had reacted in the nick of time, and slapped the blast downwards into the ground, forcing more dust into the air.
"Either you've learned how to suppress your ki since the last time we've met... Or you're lying."
A chuckle escaped the lips of the shapeshifter. Without even saying a single word, she dashed towards Oversis, reaching melee range in less than a second. Their fists collided, a burst of wind erupted from the point at which the two made contact. They began trading blows, blocking, dodging, slipping in as many hits as possible. Oversis' height, weight, and range gave him a small advantage, so it was time to change that. Copy began to grow as she exchanged blows with Oversis, slowly beginning to overpower the weaker demon. With a single punch, Oversis was knocked back by many meters, and an energy blast charged after him. He jumped up high, avoiding the energy blast, and ignited his aura mid air. He soared through the air before arching downwards once again. Towards the shapeshifting demon. He set himself in the air so that his fist would reach Copy first, and when it seemed as if he would score a decent hit, Copy dashed backwards, allowing Oversis' fist to slam into the floor of the earth, creating a small crater. Nerferu was coming back for more, as she ran forward towards the weaker demon. He raised an arm as the nun's fist slammed into it, his power jumping upwards rather noticeably. He thrust his fist forward, striking Copy square in her feminine face. She was thrown backwards roughly, rolling on the ground before she shot back up, standing upright. She was smirking.
"It seems I'll have to try a little harder."
Three energy blasts were shot at Oversis in quick succession, and the dragonic demon's eyes widened as they all turned slightly, before rebounding back towards him. He flared his aura as the energy blasts drew near, dissipating the black ki instantly. He dashed towards Copy, throwing several punches at her that struck air. A harsh kick slammed into his face, knocking him back and spraying blood in the air. He threw a blast of his own at Copy, who sidestepped it as if it was nothing. She ducked beneath a roundhouse aimed at decapitating her, before striking Oversis in his scaly tummy with a closed fist which sunk into his rather tough skin. The following kick forced him to cough up more blood, as he was tossed away. Copy chased after his body, which flew in the air like a ragdoll, and punched him again, knocking him into another hut, breaking it on contact.
"Karma, am I right?"
She smiled. The demons currently spectating the fight were lost for words, staring in awe as the two of the strongest fighters of their race duked it out. Oversis burst from the rubble, and landed a decent punch on Copy. The strike aimed at her stomach tossed her away, and she righted herself mid air to land on the bottom of her feet.
"That was a good hit, demon. Allow me to give you something in return."
Copy's power jumped upwards suddenly, as she aimed yet another sphere of ki at Oversis.
"I hope you know that there is no way out of this."
The blast shot forward, and the dragonic demon thrust both his arms out to catch it. And catch it he did, as the blast forced him backwards, his feet digging deep into the ground.
"You really did grow stronger... You may have anticipated my attacks so far... But you have no idea about just what I'm capable of!"
His power began to rise steadily, and Copy's eyebrows perked up.
He is raising his power level this high through sheer willpower... Persistent maggot!
Her raised arm seemed to swell as she added more force to the energy blast, it almost doubling in size. After a few moments, it exploded immediately, and knocked Oversis into yet another wall. Copy jumped at him, her fist crashing into the wall, a mere inch from Oversis' face. He grabbed the shapeshifter's arm, and with his free hand, he shoved a palm into her face. Her arm was removed from her, being ripped right out of its socket. Oversis took this opportunity to dash away as Copy grit her teeth, falling to the dirt floor below. She hit the ground, and got up immediately, her arm beginning to regrow already.
"I will take my time torturing you..."
The onlookers were cheering on Oversis, and kept their distance, not willing to take part in the fight taking place. Copy threw multiple ki blasts at Oversis, and they hit the ground around him for many yards with a thud, enveloping him in a large cloud of dust. She wasted no time, dashing forward quickly.
"Dammit, Nerferu!"
Two fingers. Two fingers were thrust forward, and they both hit Oversis' eyes brutally. Blood spurted out, and Copy lowered her energy. The spectators were unaware of what Copy did to her energy, with Oversis being the only one of them who could sense energy. The dragonic demon went down on one knee, and criticized Copy.
"Dammit... Creating a cloud of dust to avoid immediate detection, suppressing your energy so I can't sense you, and on top of that... You strike me in the eyes to blind me physically. You really are the biggest cheat.
Copy walked towards him calmly, palm just a meter away from his face.
"She is more than capable of killing me. Where is she...? I can't sense her... yet there's this sense of imminent danger!"
He spoke to himself, but the demons couldn't hear him. They assumed that Oversis was all out of fight, and that he had been rightfully defeated. Some of them flared their auras, and dashed towards Copy at last. The nun glanced at the demons flying towards her, sneering. She raised her free hand at them, and fired a beam of energy at them, knocking one of them out cold. She removed her hand from Oversis' face, and ran. Just ran. Far away from the village. The demons followed her, but soon lost track of where she went due to their lack of ki sense. Utterly frightened and disappointed, they returned to their half destroyed village. Copy halted her escape, stopping in the middle of a random clearing. She looked around at the area, seemingly at peace. It was almost calming... not being engaged with finding demons to humble. She sighed.
Good job, Oversis. You've proved to me that not all of you demons could be bad. I'll be back... hopefully our next exchange doesn't have to be hostile.
