Once again his blasts found their mark and this time he thought he saw them rock the big man back on his heels for a fraction of a second. Good... I've got him hurting. Hopefully he's hurting worse than I am.Instead of pressing his attack and charging the Baron once more, the Duke reverted to his early fight tactics and sent sonic waves towards him. The first was easily avoidable after having seen it earlier. The second was a bit more tricky; the Duke did something and caused the air to spin in a miniature sand devil as it tore towards him. He managed to run out of it's path and crouched down, holding onto a palm tree as it passed and he felt the tugging of the winds cease on his body. He pushed himself Up from the tree, feeling the toll of the battle starting to settle in. He took a few steps towards the Duke and sent a searing crimson blast towards his chest again. No subtlety, the time for that was past. It was just his power against this humans endurance. The first one to give out would lose. He was determined it would not be him as he sketched the runes of power once more into the air. He willed the ice spears towards their target as the portal coalesced and launched themselves towards the mountain of muscle that faced him across the sandy arena, some of the lower ones sent trails of sand as they launched them selves at their target... { } Edge 1: Your PL must be 1.5x an opponent’s; you gain +2 bonus damage on all attacks, and +2 Damage Reduction. He's not going to last much longer. Certainly. Atalan was not doing too hot, but the Duke was in far, far worse condition than the Baron could ever claim to be. A barrage of icy spears pelted him once more, and he could not simply shrug them off this time - following after an energy blast which softened his defenses, they struck his chest and lower body directly, leaving painful piercing wounds throughout. Small drops of blood began to pool onto the ground below, the Duke's breathing turned heavy, his body refused to move... Refused to move?! REFUSED TO MOVE?! The descendant of the greatest martial artist of Earth cannot be shackled by fear or exhaustion! No matter how much the odds stack against him, no matter how much he suffers, the only thing he can do before losing consciousness is to keep on moving! The Duke clenched his teeth and ran forward, building up the last meager reserves of energy in his body. With a single leap, he took to the air, foot outstretched forward and throat yelling: "DYNAMITE! KIIIIIIICK!" The ultimate trademark technique of the Satan lineage... a kick with enough power to take down even the most powerful warrior with a single clocking blow. And this kick was heading straight towards Atalan. [Words: 214/2812] Defensive Phase Energy Blast - vs 40 def - hits for 13 damage! Zamraheer - vs 40 def - hits for 23 damage!

Atalan thought the fight was pretty much over. His ice spears had finally broken through the towering Duke Satan's defenses and pierced his body. He energy blast followed up and seemed to immobilize the big man, almost as if he could no longer move... Until he EXPLODED into motion, screaming about a Dynamite Kick and flew towards him. He barely had time to summon his guard barrier, which shattered before the onslaught as the attack continued and struck him in the chest. Atalan's chest felt like it had been kicked by a horse as he tumbled back and rolled a few times before coming to rest on the ground. The... bright side of this was that the second attack missed him completely, he supposed as he lay spread eagle on the sand for a moment. He gasped for air as he struggled up to one knee and looked towards his opponent. He didn't have enough air in his lungs for fancy words or curses... so it was time to just rely on the basics. The flow to the power that fed him had waned a bit... but it was still there. He summoned his power to wreath his right hand, and as he pushed himself completely upright, he slung the blast at the Duke's chest. He carefully took a few steps forward as he raised his left hand, gathered his power and carefully shot again at the huge man's leg. He was aiming to disable, not kill after all. It was best not to kill those who might have offers for you until you at least heard them out, it was only manners after all. { } Edge 1: Your PL must be 1.5x an opponent’s; you gain +2 bonus damage on all attacks, and +2 Damage Reduction.

So close. Soooo close. Even if only one of Duke's two spinning Dynamite Kick blows actually managed to land, it clocked Atalan in his chest so hard that the Baron stumbled back and clearly winced in pain. He was convinced that victory was not far off. He just needs to get a few of these kicks land where they need to, all while avoiding any of Atalan's attacks, because he sure as hell was not going to endure any more punishment.
It was a plan, but it was a plan easier said than done. Before Duke Satan even managed to land back on his feat after bouncing off Atalan's chest, two energy blasts whizzed through the air straight at him. One smashed straight into his torso, the other seared his leg, both of them flinging the mountain of muscle like a ragdoll. He flew, he crash landed, then rolled and rolled and rolled... until his back finally hit the trunk of a tree and brought him to a halt. Rather painfully, too, mind you.
A silence set across the battlefield for a good few seconds, before the Duke weakly lifted his head off the dirt and spoke:
"You are... great. Spectacular! Amazing! Even more amazing than I could have imagined! Now this is what I'm looking for!"
He coughed, spitting up a little bit of blood, but that dissuade him even a single bit, for he continued:
"Now, don't leave just yet! I said I had to make you an offer, didn't I?"

Atalan's eyes widened momentarily with surprise before he got himself under control. He has actually began to doubt whether he had the firepower to take this man down... and it had been closer than he liked to admit. He snapped his fingers twice, the first time, a pair of beach chairs appeared between the men, the second time he called out in a hoarse voice, "Beauregard! Get your worthless hide back over here."
After a few moments, the spindly legged manservant came running from further up the beach and bowed, "How might I serve the master?"
Atalan gestured at the Duke, "Help the Duke to his chair, then fetch us some refreshments, like good fellow. He has an offer I am interested in hearing."
Atalan would wait patiently to see if the Duke would allow the manservant to help him and whether he would accept the drink. Either way, Atalan would sip at his new drink, ensconced in a half of a coconut, and take a large drink. The taste of coconut and the tart taste of whatever they put into this was quite refreshing on such a hot day. Especially after such an exertion as this. He hadn't known the people of this island were so strong... It made it feel a little like home. He waited for the Duke to situate himself before he asked, "So, this offer... what is it?"

Atalan clearly held no bad feelings towards the Duke over the battle which the two of them just went through - he even ordered his servant, named Beauregard, to help the fallen warrior up, allow him to sit down on a chair, and even brought a cold, refreshing drink to allow him to chill out from the heat and sweat he's built up since. Now this is the sort of reception which can melt any heart.
"Thank you very much!" the Duke exclaimed joyfully, nodded, and took a sip from the half-coconut he's been so generously handed. So, so soothing. As soon as Atalan stated that he's willing to listen to what the successor of the House of Satan has to say, the Duke slightly coughed and began:
"This may come as a surprise, young Baron, especially after the fight we've just had - but I am no martial artist. Aside from the strength I inherited and the dutiful regiment I follow, I have little under my wing. Instead of a martial artist, you may call me... a fan. The goal I have placed upon my shoulders is not to grow in strength myself, but to witness just how powerful Earth's numerous martial artists are - and make them grow!"
A bright smile cracked itself on the Duke's face. "You see... it is a dream of mine to one day construct a capital of martial arts on Earth, a place where the greatest warriors this planet has to offer can gather, meet each other, train and improve themselves as much as their bodies allow! Any facilities you may have will pale in comparison to what you will witness across its streets and halls! And I will ask you the same question I ask any excellent martial artist I come across - once this SATAN CITY is finally constructed, may I trust to see you there?"

Atalan sipped at his drink and pondered the man's words. A place... no a city based solely on martial perfection. It could be an asset as a training ground, sure. But more importantly, a recruiting ground. One thing Atalan knew abut fighters, which should be obvious to most, is that of course they wanted to fight. They wanted to test themselves against real world foes, fight people stronger than them, and gain honor. While he thought that he himself could indeed use some training and honing of his skills, the main interest he had was indeed the chance to net some allies. All of this ran through his mind and he made a considering face.
"Indeed. If you get Satan City off of the ground, call on me. I shall come and see what you have built, and see if it is for me. I will promise that at the least." He snapped his fingers and a card with his contact information appeared in his fingers. He handed it to the Duke and leaned back into his chair. "I am going to finish my drink... feel free to stay for a while if you wish. You say you are a fan of martial arts... who was your favorite Z fighter?"
Atalan relaxed and sipped again. It was nice to speak with someone else of the peerage and not one of the rabble. He wasn't a demon, but at least as a noble he wasn't complete riff raff. He spoke with the Duke for a while before he wandered back to the hotel room, weary from the exertions of the day.
